Awards
November
2006. The Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the
agencies of the Massachusetts Office for Commonwealth Development
received the 2006 Overall Excellance award for National Smart
Growth Achievement from the US Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA), the highest given. Read

December 2002. Community Preservation Initiative staff were
awarded a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Citation for Outstanding
Performance on December 12, 2002. The award focuses attention
on consistent, positive achievement by individuals and teams
of state employees who demonstrate innovation and dedication
in their work, concern for the public trust, and a commitment
to excellence.
November
2002. The Community Preservation Initiative was selected by
the EPA for the 2002 National Award for Smart Growth Achievement
in the category of Outreach and Education. This award competition,
which received over 100 applications from across the country,
recognized the Initiative's achievement in smart growth for
building a constitancy and then providing implementation tools.

2002. EOEA's project to create buildout maps and analyses
for all 351 Commonwealth communities received a 2002 “Best
of Breed” award from the Government Technology's Center for
Digital Government. The project was among 30 winners chosen
from more than 1,500 technology projects applicants from across
the country.
August
2002. On August 6, this website was featured as the "Cool
Site of the Day."
Spring 2001. On behalf of the "Community Preservation Movement,"
the Initiative received the 2001 Paul E. Tsongas Award for
Exceptional Leadership in Preserving the Historic and Cultural
Heritage of the Commonwealth from Historic Massachusetts Inc,
since renamed PRESERVATIONMass.
