- The Charrette and Plan Implementation |
Lots of great ideas and enthusiasm were generated at the Worcester
UrbanRiver Visions Charrette. The charrette, which took place
on October 5, 2002 drew over 40 interested citizens and local and
state officials who collaborated and brainstormed together to develop
visions for Worcester's Blackstone River waterfront.
Some of the key initiatives discussed at the charrette included:
Enhancing the character of Quinsigamond Village through improved
connections, recreational amenities, and responsible development.
Making regional bike path and hiking trail connections through
the river valley corridor.
Redeveloping former riverfront industrial properties that take
advantage of the valley's natural beauty and the improved highway
accessibility.
Worcester has made good progress on realizing these ideas with funding
from UrbanRiver Visions and other sources. For more details, click
